Volunteering

We are always looking for volunteers to help our organisation improve the lives of local people in Barnsley who have dementia.

Becoming a volunteer can be rewarding and fun.

To be a volunteer you don't need to have lots of free time, just some enthusiasm.
You will be given help and support and we will pay your 'out of pocket' expenses.

It doesn't matter if you are 18 or 80, if you have any time spare we can always find a way in which you can help us - manning the phones, rattling tins, serving in our shop or just helping out our members.

Volunteering also has many benefits to offer the volunteer.

Volunteer Befrienders

BIADS is always on the lookout for people to become volunteer befrienders to befriend people with dementia or their carers.

Volunteer befrienders often become really good friends with families that they visit. The beneficial effect for the person with dementia and their carer is often amazing.

If you could partake with a carer on social activities, be someone a carer can talk to over a cup of tea and a biscuit or support a person with dementia to carry out their hobbies, interests and skills then maybe you might consider being a volunteer befriender with BIADS.
