Help for today - Hope for tomorrow
It was the first of June 2010 that BIADS opened its doors to provide services to people in Barnsley affected by dementia, their carers and families. On June 1st 2011, BIADS first birthday, we welcomed two new members of staff taking us up to a team of five.
Exciting times!!
On the first anniversary of BIADS opening its office in BCB's building on Sheffield Road we are pleased to announce two more services we can offer to people affected by dementia in Barnsley.
The first service is Carer Support for people who are caring for a relative or friend who has dementia. Jacky Phelan, our carer support worker, is available now to offer information, advice and support. Please ring her on 280057. This service has been made possible through the financial support of the former Mayor, Margaret Sheard.
If you need to know more about carer support please visit our Carer Support page or ring Jacky on 280057 to find out what support is available.
Our second new service is a Befriending Service for People with dementia. Our befriending coordinator, Janine Jowett, is currently setting this project up which we hope will be available soon. This exciting new venture for us has been funded through the Joint Commissioning Unit of BMBC and the PCT.
If you need to know more about the befriending service for people with dementia please visit our Befriending Service for People with Dementia page or ring Janine on 280057. She would particularly like to hear from anyone who may be interested in volunteering for this new service.
Check out what other BIADS services are available by visiting our Services page or by phoning us on 01226 280057.
