Help for today - Hope for tomorrow
If you are the carer of someone with dementia the road can be a lonely one and often our own family and friends find it hard to understand or cope with the illness. We can match you with a trained volunteer who will be there for you, the carer, throughout the illness offering you help and friendship.
Our volunteers understand the situation you are in, how isolating the illness can be and how difficult it can be for your family and friends to come to terms with. We will match you with someone who shares your interests and personality and who would like to build a relationship with you that will be mutually rewarding.
Your befriender will visit you at your convenience and be there for you to offer support in a variety of ways. Maybe you would like a companion for social activities, someone who can accompany you on shopping trips or someone you can talk to over a cup of tea and a biscuit. Most of all when the person with dementia seems to be under the care of a multitude of doctors and social workers the befriender will be someone just for you.
If you would like to be considered for a friend then call us on 01226 280057, email us here, or contact the BIADS office if you want more information.
